Muay Thai Kickboxing
One of the most popular forms of kickboxing is Muay Thai. It is a stand-up sport that involves using multiple parts of the body including fists, elbows, feet, shins, and knees. Each body part has several different moves against the opponent. Clinching is also used in Muay Thai fighting and opponents are not separated while clinching. Clinching is when one opponent grabs another and holds them in such a way that they can't perform a move. It is a full-contact sport and one of the harshest to learn. A professional kickboxing company will teach traditional Muay Thai learned from a Grandmaster.

American Kickboxing
American kickboxing and American full contact karate are very similar, and both can be called kickboxing, in a sense. American kickboxing involves kicks, strikes, and punches using fists and feet. Traditionally, it does not allow low kicks or the use of knees and elbows. Clinching is not permitted. If opponents clinch, the referee separates them. Clinching is not permitted because it immobilizes the opponent and creates an unfair fight. American kickboxing is not as harsh as Muay Thai, making it safe enough for people of both sexes and all ages.

Mixed Martial Arts
Kickboxing is generally recognized as a stand-up sport. That means the opponents stay on their feet, unlike a ground sport such as wrestling where they grab each other and roll around on the ground. Mixed martial arts combines both stand-up sports and ground sports into one. People who learn mixed martial arts will practice all types of martial arts, including the many forms of kickboxing. They will utilize moves from all of them to create a unique fighting style. Someone who teaches mixed martial arts must have extensive knowledge in several fighting sports.
